Shillong, Indian rock capital is all set to experience an entrancing evening as ‘Scorpions’ reached the place on Tuesday and is due to perform on Wednesday. The concert is dubbed as a part of ‘Humanity World Tour’ concert by the band.

While speaking to reporters at the resort where the band is presently putting-up, members of immensely hard rock band expressed their joyous state for being able to come to Shillong. Klaus Meine expressed his amazement in knowing about Shillong’s status as the rock capital of India.

Some of band members even made their affection known for various Indian musical instruments. As Rudolf Schenker, the lead guitarist expressed his fondness for instruments like sitar, flute and shennai. He added later that Ravi Shankar remains his favorite musician.

India is placed at the 30th spot in the list of venues where the band will be performing for their Humanity World Tour concert, this year.

Led Zeppelin is back with a bang. Their first live performance after 19 long years has left 20,000 audience speechless.

The concert which was dubbed as ‘rock’s biggest reunion‘ by other stars left the audience unsatiated and asking for more. Some of the concertgoers described the event as unforgettable experience and a monumental event, that they are proud to be attached with. Indeed, the audience tasted that electrifying experience of early 70’s as founder members Jimmy Page, Plant and John Paul Jones and band’s late drummer John Bonham’s son Jason Bonham continued their scintillating performance.

An array of former rockers was noticed as Noel Gallagher of Oasis, David Gilmour of Pink Floyd and Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters enjoyed the show.

However, the reunion kept the world guessing if the band will embark on a world tour. It makes ‘Led Zep'’, the member of that elite group of reunion which has The Police, Eagles and Who as some of the prominent members.

Latino Hip-Hop group The DEY premiers a video for their debut album titled ‘The DEY Has Come’. The clip is for their first single ‘Give You the World’ that has been released on iTunes.

The DEY is comprised of Divine, Elan, and Yeyo that record their songs bilingually. The band was recently selected by MTV Tr3s to be their ‘Descubre & Download’ artist and is to have ‘Give You the World’ as free download on the network’s official site.

Rap artist DeAndre Cortez Way, who performs under the stage name Soulja Boy, is facing probable legal hassles after being sued by another comparatively less known rapper, Willie Lyons. The latter has to say that he had already used the stage name ‘Souljah Boy’ before Cortez Way.

The matter first came under the media glare when gossip blogger Perez Hilton was sent a letter by the legal representative of Willie Lyons. The letter mentioned that Lyons has already been using the pseudonym ‘Souljah Boy’ for more than 12 years. The entire letter, received by Hilton, says,

I am writing on behalf of the law firm of Alexander, Odunze & Kang LLP to give you a heads up re: the attached complaint, which was filed in federal court this afternoon on behalf of Willie Lyons p/k/a Souljah Boy. By way of background (and as you may already know), Mr. Lyons, known in commerce as Souljah Boy for over twelve years, is suing artist Soulja Boy (birth name: DeAndre Way), his record label, attorney & manager in connection with his blatant infringement of Mr. Lyons’ trademark.

There has been no response thus far to this allegation from Soulja Boy or his representatives. The singer has lately been kept busy with the shooting of a music video for his third single ‘Yahhh!’ (featuring Arab) with Dale ‘Rage’ Resteghini as the director.

Soulja Boy’s case is another evidence of the complicacies that the usage of stage names can pose for the celebrities who are actually using them.

Here is news of musicians coming together for a cause. A number of musicians across Africa are teaming together to record an album containing the hits of U2. The album is a tribute to Bono’s charity and following the singer’s good work the proceeds from the album will go to Global Fund charity.

Bono who established the musical band U2 is renowned for his humanitarian efforts in Africa. He has established an organization called DATA (debt, AIDS trades, Africa) whose mission is to fight HIV and to support victims of AIDS.

The combined effort of musicians including Angelique Kidjo, Grammy winner Soweto Gospel Choir, Hip Hop group African underground All-Stars and Sierra Leone’s Refugee All Stars will encourage other celebrities to help poor people all over the globe. Such gifts have come occasionally from the stars of the singing world - remember when Michael Jackson and others sang for Africa and its children in the eighties when - ‘we are the world’ rocked everyone and brought tear to every eyes.

When the children of Snoop Dogg, the famous American rapper, actor and football fan, agreed to their dad’s decision that they should learn to play football, they had only one condition-Snoop had to persuade his friend, the iconic David Beckham, to teach them the nuances of the game.

When contacted, Beckham, currently with LA Galaxy and a committed hip-hop music fan, readily agreed and indeed spent several hours with Snoop and his children. Snoop’s sons, Corde (13) and Cordell (10), and his daughter, Cori (8), were given lessons in free kicks and dribbling by the former English skipper.

Snoop’s spokesman said,

Snoop Dogg loves talking about celebrities he knows. His brood called his bluff when he claimed to know David and insisted on meeting him before they practised soccer. Snoop was really pleased to work with David, as he is a massive football fan. The children loved meeting their hero.

As a deal for teaching his kids soccer skills, Snoop took Beckham to his preferred eating joint, Roscoe’s House of Chicken ‘n’ Waffles. However, according to Snoop’s spokesman, he had been forbidden to go there by his wife, Shante, since Snoop had earlier got involved in trouble there.

Incidentally, Snoop had been arrested for a brawl at the Heathrow airport along with five of his mates in April last year. The coaching session of David Beckham with Snoop’s kids will be aired on January 20 on the reality show Snoop Dog’s Father Hood on the E! Entertainment channel.

In a horrifying celebrity attack incident, Bay Area rapper Robert Green Jr, aka Spice 1, was shot at twice on the morning of Decemeber 3, in Hayward, California, once in the chin and another in the chest. He is now in an undisclosed hospital in critical condition. The second shot could have been fatal had it not missed his heart by just a few inches. Spice 1’s manager, Six, confirmed the attack. The rapper who has released more than 15 albums since he began his career in the early 90s, is a legend in the Bay Area.

Singer Jessica Sierra was taken into custody in Ybor City on December 1, 2007 after a drunken confrontation with police. Sierra, the third finalist of ‘American Idol’ in 2005 has been jailed following charges of intoxication, resisting arrest and violation of her parole. The worst may be yet in store for 22-year-old Sierra as she may end up spending up to 11 years and 60 days in prison if found guilty of violating her probation.

Sierra was supposed to complete a drug-rehabilitation program that was to be televised nationally but got arrested much before that. Sierra’s arrest comes just after two weeks when she was awarded 12 months probation and random drug screening for possession of drugs and throwing a cocktail glass at Wisam Hadad, on April 29 2007, at South Tampa’s Hyde Park Cafe.

Sierra was not in her senses and was badly drunk when she was arrested in the wee hours of Saturday morning. She had a strong smell of alcohol and tried fleeing from the site. She was also refused bond by court judge on Sunday morning. Currently in Orient Road Jail she has refused to give interview to The Tampa Tribune.

Prior to this she entered a California rehab facility in July. She has also agreed to be a part of VH1 reality show, ‘Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew’ which will be debuted on January 10, 2008.

Here’s some shocking news from the world of British music. Singer Amy Winehouse was spotted in East London bare feet in freezing cold and crying. She only had a red bra on when it was darn cold outside. The neighbors are worried about her.

This happened during the early hours of morning, right around 5.40 a.m. The troubled singer was seen peeping over the fence of her neighbor and she seemed to be looking for something. I am sure that she is going through some troubled times.

She is an English R & B singer and songwriter. Her debut single ‘Stronger than me’ made her pretty famous. Yet another single ‘Rehab’ made her popular. Amy got married to an on-off Boyfriend Blake Fielder-Civil in a secret ceremony in Miami, Florida. Since then she had a hard time with her husband, who went to the rehab for a few days.

Amy’s best buddy Pete Doherty(28) is said to close the band. The last song was devoted to Winehouse. Reportedly, Amy has been troubled by her husband’s case, ‘Blake Fielder-Civil’, supposedly some court norms, and was jailed for that. After that Amy Winehouse couldn’t take it anymore. Added to that, the closure of Pete’s band deeply saddened Amy.

Logan was not a favorite of the judges of the dance competition. He confronted insults from the judges who told him that he had ‘all the grace of a vacuum cleaner’. Lagan was even compared with a bouncer and a coat hanger.

Kerry Logan’s wife and former gymnast Gabby Logan had been tipped as a likely winner but made a shocking exit earlier in the show. It is believed that viewers voted for their favorite personalities and not necessarily for the best dancer. Kenny seemed to have benefited from his wife’s supporters who had switched their allegiance to him.

Last weekend, Kenny Logan performed foxtrot and rumba with professional dancer Ola Jordan. While his foxtrot won praise, he was given the lowest score for his rumba.

Logan had to compete with former ‘East Enders’ actress Letitia Dean to retain his place in the contest. However, the viewers of the show considered Miss Dean a better dancer and Logan had to quit.

The final four remaining in the contest are - Alesha Dixon, Matt di Angelo, Gethin Jones and Letitia Dean.

For those of you who missed the announcement before the world’s media at the 02 Arena in London (formerly the Millenium Dome) in June, here is news. They are back with bang-bang-bang. And lots of spice too! Yeah! The Spice Girls are back! The whole bunch– Victoria, Emma, Mel B, Mel C and Geri.

The concert at Vancouver kick-started their reunion world tour and coincided with the group’s Greatest Hits album. Spice girls fans, it’s time to rejoice. The Spice Girls would perform for the first time since 1998 in the Canadian gig. Hopefully, they would be able to pick up from where they left off-at Birmingham shortly before Geri Halliwell’s departure from the band.

In a final dress rehearsal meant only for family, friends and select members of the press, the girls swirled in co-ordinating copper-coloured Roberto Cavalli outfits, singing Spice Up Your Life and Stop and Say You’ll Be There in perfect tune. Mel C cautiously warned the audience of possible ‘wardrobe malfunctions’.

The girls, contrary to media reports, seemed delightfully pally-pally. They announced that they were glad to be back and hugged each other after the performance. New mom, Emma, looked the happiest.

They are all set to perform a 22-song set, with the show lasting around two hours and including multiple costume changes, with spectacular video sequences and a stunning split-level stage thrown in.

In their peak form ,the Spice Girls sold 55 million albums and had nine UK number one singles. Even after a decade, the Spice Girls haven’t lost their craze. What better proof of the fact than all 15,800 seats in the 02 Arena, where they will perform on 15th December, having been sold out? They even had to add and reschedule some shows in response to public demand. The tickets in the UK concerts sold out in 38 seconds flat.

In the coming months, the five have plans to put stages in cities across the world, from London to Cape Town, as well as Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York, San Jose, Shanghai, Madrid and Beijing, on fire with their scintillating performance.

A minor stumbling block came in the form of a fake e-mail saying that the Spice Girls group were having to pull out of their gig in Buenos Aires in Argentina in January due to the level of demand in Britain and the US. The girls, however, confirmed that the dates have just been postponed, not canceled.
