Well, I did post on the Red Hot Chili Peppers Plagiarism earlier - continuing with that - Tom Petty is seriously considering suing the Red Hot Chili Peppers and their producer Rick Rubin. Dani California, the new track from RHCP’s new album bears a striking resemblance to Petty’s 90’s hit ‘Mary Jane’s Last Dance’.
Apparently, Rick Rubin has produced both the tracks. According to the New York Post, Petty is currently in discussions, engaging his lawyers about a possible copyright lawsuit.
Petty’s spokeswoman Heidi Robinson refuses to comment on the possible lawsuit but did say:
I am well aware of this situation. (The two songs) certainly do sound similar, don’t they? I guess imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
