Did that surprise you that Westlife beats Oasis, U2 and the Beatles in UK album battle, but it was somewhat shocking to me that a band of unremarkable lads can beat arguably the best bands in the world.
Westlife live at the top of the charts, bands like Oasis and U2 don’t, if it wasn’t for groups like Westlife there wouldn’t be a music industry, they pay for the smaller bands to get going...doesn’t mean they’re better does it?
Nevertheless, Westlife’s album is new material, probably RIP music and some might consider this as a sad day for REAL music when an album of cover versions beats Oasis, Beatles and U2 to number one. But, there’s a reason, they’re no longer a teen band. Take that, whose last number one was How Deep Is Your Love in 1996; while, ten years on, their devoted fans can still be relied on to buy their releases. However, it should be added that it appears to have much wider and more credible appeal second time around.
