What more can fans of a band ask for as a surprise, especially when their favorite group sprung in a surprising unplanned act. Stars of U2, the famous rock band, Bono and The Edge showed up at the London charity concert without prior intimation and what’s more the fans were treated with impromptu warm-up act.
The concert was for Mencap, a charity that campaigns for equal rights for children and adults with learning disabilities. The unsought of act by members of U2 delighted the 250 people who were a part of the concert, attending to raise funds for the organization.
Commenting on this surprise performance Bono said,
Don’t tell Larry (Mullen) and Adam (Clayton) we’ve done this.
Performing at the London’s Union Chapel where the concert was staged, Bono and The Edge performed for Biffy Clyro, a Scottish rock group and played four of their songs ‘Stay,’ ‘Desire,’ ‘Angel Of Harlem’ and ‘Wave Of Sorrow,’ a track written for their 1987 album ‘Joshua Tree.’
This surprise concert shocked the audience to no extent. A 20 year old lad who was one of the attendee commented that his battery almost conked off because of the number of pictures he took of the duo who made their presence felt on stage. This seems more true a charity concert than the ones where stars are paid to sing.
Something unasked for like Bono and The Edge’s surprise performance surely seems to show how true to music the group is. Their warm-up act definitely cheered the crowd and drove them completely crazy. This is obvious when an international band like U2 spring surprises which no one can even imagine.
