No-show winners are a tradition at this event. If you haven’t guessed I am talking about the American Music Awards.

It was a celebration time for Pop singer Kelly Clarkson, funk groups the Black Eyed Peas and the Red Hot Chili Peppers and country trio Rascal Flatts who won two prizes each. But another public humiliation for Mariah Carey who lost in two of the three categories she was nominated for, with one still unannounced. But Carey some how escaped the humiliation as she was not present at the award ceremony keeping the tradition up.

the Peas who won for favorite group in both the rap/hip-hop and soul/R&B categories and accepted their awards via satellite, while the Red Hot Chili Peppers won for favorite pop/rock and alternative music artist. Both the Peas And Peppers were not present. Another two-time winner was former American Idol champ Clarkson, who also did not show up.But who did show up were the Rascal Flatts, who were named favorite country group.

Gwen Stefani, who yodeled her way through a brand new song, Wind It Up; country music outcasts the Dixie Chicks, who received loud applause for their socially conscious tune Easy Silence; and rapper-turned-record executive Jay-Z, emerging from his short-lived stage retirement.
