The NFL has a history of attracting top acts for its halftime show and every performer is thrilled to perform for millions of fans at one of the most exciting and highly anticipated sporting events of the year. Last season, the prime entertainer was former Beatle Paul McCartney. And, who can forget the heat they took in 2004 for Janet Jackson’s infamous “wardrobe malfunction” at halftime during a performance with Justin Timberlake.
For the third year in a row, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame act will headline the Super Bowl halftime entertainment. This time it’s Prince. Invitation was extended to the recently divorced superstar Prince to perform at this year’s Super Bowl half-time show and with a green light signal from Prince, organizers seems excited. The Purple One, winner of six Grammy Awards and nominated for five more this year, will play at the game in Miami on Feb. 4.
In recent years, Prince has put on entertaining, yet tasteful performances. Remember his Grammy performance in 04.
What can I say a dream come true? Prince, the 48-year-old Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee who rose to fame on the strength with raunchy lyrics and racy performances and such tunes as “Little Red Corvette” and “Let’s Go Crazy.” But we can hope that he does not return to his wild ways before the big game in February. Prince once famously bared his butt cheeks during a live TV performance and a matching incident could rouse the kind of fury we saw following ‘Nipplegate’ in 2004.
However, the sports fans will get some funk with their football when unusual star Prince plays the Super Bowl XLI halftime show on Feb. 4 at Dolphin Stadium.
