Pop music has come a long way since the 1990s but the Spice Girls appear to have retained their same old vigour and splendor. The latest pictures of them illustrate that Geri Halliwell, Melanie Chisholm, Emma Bunton, Melanie Brown and Victoria Beckham all are as beautiful and lovely as they were in the 1990s when they were barely in their 20s.
The all-girl band’s reunion is yet to spread its wings but the media is already out on them. Paparazzi are chasing them all the time and the greatest ever all-girl English pop band are grabbing massive media attention. But the new pictures haven’t added positively to that hype.
Recently released pictures of Victoria Beckham and Melanie Chisholm show that they have lost a good degree of their complexion and the media has now rechristened them as Spotty Spice. The gibe is of course hard for the pair since they both have tried so hard to get themselves back into the shape that is required for a pop star.
But the pair has their fair share of consolation as well. Both Victoria and Melanie look stunning and attractive in the band’s new video single Headlines (Friendship Never Ends) that is expected to storm to the top of the charts in the English-speaking world. The other girls too appear young as ever and the touch of glamour remains.
Although the signs are good for the Spice Girls, there are one or two concerns about their eating disorders. At the time of splitting, the girls complained that the hectic schedule and almost endless world tours had knocked the steam out of them and that they were suffering from eating disorders. Melanie Chisholm’s frank admission that at first she didn’t agree to the reunion of the band for fears of old dieting and eating problems has smeared the reunion hype with a touch of insecurity and apprehension.
Yet the Spice Girls appear united, at least on the surface, and look spectacular too. The entire world is set to embrace them as they did in the 1990s.
