Digital media company RealNetworks Inc announced that it would launch a free Web-based version of its Rhapsody digital music subscription service.
RealNetworks recently reached a settlement in its antitrust lawsuit against Microsoft Corp. It had sued Microsoft for the Corporation’s decision to bundle its own media player within Windows which might hamper sales of the RealNetworks player.
The new Rhapsody.com service will enable the consumers to use Rhapsody without first downloading a PC jukebox application. Another achievement is that for the fist time Rhapsody will be available to Apple Computer Inc’s Mac users and Linux users.
