Computer giant Apple has annoyed rapper Eminen by selling his tracks. A new lawsuit filed by a rapper’s music publisher Eight Mile Style claims that Apple has no right to sell his music.
The suit was filed on Monday in the U.S. District Court in Detroit, Mich., and accuses Apple of violating copyright by selling Eminem tracks through its download service iTunes.
Apple pays Eminem’s record label for each download, but Eight Mile Style argues it has not approved the deal. Norman Ankers, a lawyer for the company said,
This is a significant issue in the music industry. This occurs with many artists and many record labels.
Consequently, Apple has been asked to stop selling Eminem’s tracks but has so far refused, the suit claims.
This is the second time Eminem is suing Apple for copyright infringement. In 2004 also, the rap star sued Apple after the company used his song ‘Lose Yourself’ in an iTunes TV commercial. The ad was never released.
