Princes William and Harry are planning to stage a charity rock concert next year to memorialize their late mother Princess of Vales. The event is predicted for July 1, 2007 next year, Princess Diana’s birthday at the new Wembley stadium.

Stars that may possibly appear include Beyonce, Kylie Minogue and Madonna. Fans of the princess are speculated whether Sir Elton John will reprise Candle In the Wind, which he sang at her funeral.

The new Wembley stadium is being completed at a cost of some £800m but is due to be opened for the FA Cup final in May.

Paddy Harverson, the Prince of Wales’s communications secretary, said a formal announcement would be made on the concert before the end of this year.

Harverson said,

The princes are considering a number of possible options for how they would like to remember their mother. This is just one possibility among several and I would not like to go into any more detail while discussions are ongoing.

According to one well-placed source, ‘The Princes are very excited about it. They are very hands on, organizing and helping to select their favorite bands. It is going to cause a stir. This is a major new happening with regard to the Princes’ emerging public profile.’

The source added: ‘Prince William is mad about Beyonce and Prince Harry wants Pharrell.’

Diana died following a crash in the Pont de L’Alma road tunnel in Paris along with Dodi Fayed, the son of Mohamed al-Fayed, the owner of Harrods and Fulham football club.

It is considered that the funds raised will go into Harry’s charity Sentebale (forget-me-not), established by the Prince along with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho to raise money for orphans and fight HIV and Aids in the insolvent African kingdom. This cause was close to Diana’s heart.
