Even after 10 years of her death, Diana remains as a source of inspiration for her image as People’s Princess. Her son and heir to the English throne, Prince William hopes that the proposed Princess Diana memorial concert would be an opportunity for all her admirers to remember all the marvelous things his mother did.
In an interview with BBC, presenter Fearne Cotton, Prince William and his younger brother Prince Harry emotionally talked of their thrill ahead of the scheduled 1 July concert in the memory of their mother Princess Diana. They also expressed how her memories are etched in their life.
The memorial concert taking place at Wembley Stadium and organized by the princes marks the 10th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death. The list of participants will include past and present superstars like Sir Tom Jones, rapper P Diddy, Sir Elton John and band Supertramp, one of Diana’s favorites.
The interview is also the first one where Prince William expressed his deep feelings for his late mother openly. The princes expressed their desire to do more than a memorial service to commemorate the public persona of their mother.
Prince William said,
We wanted something that would really bring her whole spirit - her joy of life and everything that we thought she stood for - a bit more to the point and a concert of this magnitude balanced with the service will be a wonderful way to remember her.
Princess Diana was one of the most adored royal personality of the century. A happy, fun, bubbly person with a heart for thousands of people died in 1997 in a Paris tunnel car accident. Though her husband Prince Charles betrayed her, yet she lives with an image larger than her life in public memory. A truly People’s Princess and a loving mother, Diana had transformed her Royal image into a darling of public.
