The MTV Video Music Awards 2007 saw the comeback of the pop beauty Britney Spears with her much applauded new single ‘Gimme More’ and felicitated some of the best in the music industry along with some mind-blowing performances.

The MTV VMAs rewarded the biggest stars around with Barbados born Rihanna’s ‘Umbrella’ featuring Jay-Z bagging the prestigious Best Video of the Year award. Rihanna was in the race for this esteemed award category along with superhits like Beyonce’s Irreplaceable, Justin Timberlake’s, What goes Around, Justin’s D.A.N.C.E, Amy Winehouse’s Rehab and Kanye West’s Stronger. Rihanna, for whom it has been an eventful year, was also awarded the Monster Single of the Year earlier the same evening.

This years MTV Video Music Awards saw some staggering performances apart from Britney Spears from superstars like Chris Brown, Rihanna, Fall Out Boy, Kanye West, Amy Winehouse, Foo Fighters and Timbaland. These performances were inclusive of some guest appearances by Nelly Furtado, Common, Gym Class Heros and Cee-Lo.

The winners for various categories are:

• Male Artist of the Year: Justin Timberlake
• Female Artist of the Year: Fergie aka Stacy Ferguson
• Best Group: Fall Out Boy
• Best New Artist: Gym Class Heroes
• Monster Single of the Year: Rihanna, ‘Umbrella’
• Most Earthshattering Collaboration: Beyonce Knowles feat. Shakira, ‘Beautiful Liar’
• Quadruple Threat of the Year: Justin Timberlake
• Best Editing: Ken Mowe for Gnarls Barkley’s ‘Smiley Faces’
• Best Director: Samuel Bayer for Justin Timberlake’s ‘What Goes Around ... Comes Around’
• Best Choreography: Marty Kudelka for Justin Timberlake’s ‘My Love’
