Ministry’s 25th Anniversary Collection includes 15 tracks, with 8 new mixes and one previously unreleased track, The Great Satan. Rantology includes four updates from the bands last record, Houses of the Mole’. This material does find Ministry leader Al Jourgensen working harder and writing better than his previous few albums, but again, none of the remix material feels essential.
Another relatively new song in the band’s history, “Bloodlines,” is included here - snatched from a vampire-themed videogame - but is thoroughly unimpressive. Sounding like a leftover from Filth Pig (arguably the band’s weakest record), “Bloodlines” is the sound of Ministry reduced to a boring, formulaic mess. It really wasn’t expected from one of the most influential industrial bands in the scene.
