Mariah Carey, who was accused of having copied some parts of singer Rachele Chafir’s Sexy to make It’s Like That, has now been cleared of the charges bringing an end to the copyright case filed by Chafir.
The Federal Judge hearing the case did not find the case against Carey strong enough and therefore ruled in her favour.
Chafir had brought the suit back in 2006 accusing Carey of having lifted the chorus, key tones and music from ‘Sexy’ for ‘It’s Like That’. Chafir seems to have copyrighted ‘Sexy’ way back in 2004 itself.
Mariah must be quite relieved now with a heavy load off her back now. Her new album Sweet Soul Odyssey is to be released on December 4 this year.
