Feeling that her namesake is tainting her image, she advised her porn-star lookalike, Tyra Banxxx, to quit the business and find a more respectable job. Unfortunately her advise failed to work as she continue making movies and money of course. Does anyone remember that Microsoft beat down a kid who used his real name in a web site because it sounded like Microsoft? The kids name was Mike Rowe. He put up a funny little site called Mikerowesoft and they were going to destroy him unless he gave up the name.
Now a funny issue of the trademark dispute comes up with Mariah Carey who is in a battle with porn-star-turned-politician, Mary Carey, to try and block Mary from trade marking her stage name, because fans could get the two performers confused. I think she is right some of Mariah’s stage costumes are enough to get her confused with Mary, even without the similar-sounding name.
Mary’s real name is Cook, but the adult film star has been using the stage name of Carey for quite some time, and is not prepared to back down from the trademark application because of pressure from Mariah.
She says-
‘I’m ready to battle Mariah over this because I’ve been Mary Carey for a long time.’
She started using the stage name Mary Carey in 2002 and once ran for California governor against Arnold Schwarzenegger, filed the trademark papers earlier this year.
As far as trade marking goes, it actually might work. However, there’s a simple solution to this, if Mariah don’t want people to confuse her with a porn star, then she should stop dressing like one.
