The singer and guitarist of Kiss band, Paul Stanley developed heart ailment just before the commencement of the show in California, which was scheduled at Soboba Casino, some 90 miles east of Los Angeles and was abstained from performing at the event.
Staley was later taken to hospital for check-up and his heartbeat was checked which was found to be above 190 beats per minute. The heartbeat stayed there for an hour making physicians give an IV and a shot to bring down the heart beat into a normal pattern. Later on he said on his website:
Not knowing if this episode was life threatening made it even more exhausting.
In his absence the band-mates Gene Simmons, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer carried on the show as a trio for the first time. Prior to this the band has played as trio just once at Studio 54 in New York City for an international satellite broadcast on January 28, 1982, for the Italian Festival della canzone italiana. At that time Ace Frehley had to miss the show due to some illness.
This concert of July 27, 2007 is the only concert that Stanley had to miss in his 33-years with the group.
Stanley, 55, happens to be the writer or co-writer of most of the band’s hit songs. He is married to girlfriend Erin Sutton since November 2005. A baby named Colin Michael Stanley was born to the couple on September 6, 2006.
Stanley and Simmons co-founded the Kiss band in New York, in 1973.
