Justin Timberlake is having a heavenly time in the music world. His latest album Futuresex/Lovesounds has been a worldwide hit with millions of copies sold throughout the globe and produced super hit singles like SexyBack, My Love and What Goes Around.....Comes Around. The string of honours continue for the American pop and R&B singer as his box spoof Dick in the Box won an Emmy prize on Saturday at the US TV-show Saturday Night Live.
Timerlake’s song is about wrapping a part of the male anatomy and gifting it as a Christmas present and is performed along with comedian Andy Samberg. The video was first aired in December 2006 and features Justin and Samberg performing in New York with the unusual gift boxes. The video is a parody of R&B sex ballad videos from the early 1990s and was made a huge hit after it achieved massive popularity on YouTube.
The music video won the Emmy prize for the best original music and lyrics and although Justin was not present to share the joy, Samberg was and this is what he had to remark on the great occasion at the Creative Arts Emmys ceremony:
I think it’s safe to say that when we first set out to make this song, we were all thinking, ‘Emmy!’. The other thing we were thinking was, ‘Hey! There’s this young up-and-comer, Justin Timberlake, who is clearly very talented and could really use a break’.
This Emmy is yet another feather to Justin Timberlake’s cap. He won the American Music Award in the Favourite Pop/Rock Album category in 2003 for his album Justified and was also chosen as the Best International Male in 2007 at the Brits Award ceremony.
