Justin Timberlake and Beyonce Knowles have topped the nominations for the forthcoming 35th Annual American Music Awards to be held on November 18, 2007. Both ‘Baby Boy’ and ‘Sexyback stars are on the lead, each with three nominations.
Besides Beyonce and Timbrlake who has made to three nominations are rock bands Daughtry and Linkin Park whereas Akon, Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Young Jeezy, T.I. and “Idol” winner Carrie Underwood had to do with just two categories.
Nominations for different categories ranging from “inspirational” to hip hop were disclosed on Tuesday, October 9,2007 at the Beverly Hills Hotel. The award nominates singers by genre and this time Beyonce and Timberlake are both in same category Soul/R&B Favorite Album.
Rock band Daughtry’s self-titled album has been chosen for Favorite Album in Pop or Rock against Linkin Park’s ‘Minutes to Midnight’ and Timberlake’s ‘FutureSex/LoveSounds’.
The two special things about 2007’s American Music Awards are; for the first time the winners would be announced at a new venue (Los Angeles’ Nokia Theater) and other is that all singers will also be voted on line by public for the first time. Earlier winners were chosen on the basis of record sales of singers.
The event of November 18 will be aired live by ABC-TV. Jimmy Kimmel has given his nod to host the event whereas Stacy Ferguson aka Fergie and Rihanna have announced their stage performance.
