Famous 90’s rock band ‘Extreme’ is back! The news comes form the band members who are already working on their fifth studio album. The members disbanded in 1996 have announced their reunion after 12 years.
The band reformed twice for a very short time after separation. First they reformed for a short tour in 2004 and performed in their hometown, Boston and in Japan. The band’s second reunion was in 2006 when they reunited for three shows in New England.
It seems that the third union of the band would last long as the band members are also keen on kicking off a world tour next year. The final track, ‘Play With Me’ of their self-titled album was utilized in the film Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure. The track was also featured in video game ‘Guitar Hero’ and is considered a popular one.
The newly formed Extreme will consist of its original members namely Bettencourt, frontman Gary Cherone and bassist Pat Badger with dummer Kevin Figueiredo in place of Mike Mangini.
Guitarist Nuno Bettencourt will produce the new studio album. Further details of the album are expected in coming weeks. The band is set for a live performance at Boston Music Awards on Saturday, December 1.
