“The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll”, Elvis Presley died in the year 1977, but his legacy continues to earn him a truckload of money. That’s what the Forbes’ list of Top-Earning Dead Celebrities revealed. Elvis Presley has been reported to have earned a whopping US$ 49 Million in the last 12 months. He regained the spot after a gap of one year. In 2005, Elvis was the #1 on this list, but lost out on the #1 spot in 2006 to Kurt Cobain. In 2007, he surpassed his nearest competitor, John Lennon by approximately US$5 million.

Continuing on the list, No.3 spot went to Charles M. Schulz, who amassed a wealth of approximately US$35 million. Following him was George Harrison at US$22million, Andy Warhol at US$15 million, Theodor Geizel at US$13 million, Tupac Shakur at US$9 million, Marilyn Munroe at US$7 million and many others.

The No.1 on 2006’s list of Top-Earning Dead Celebrities, Kurt Cobain didn’t find a place in this year’s top 10. Elvis Presley died in 1977, but even after his death, fans and music companies are paying fortunes to get music rights, DVD resale rights and so on.

Adding to that is Elvis’s music royalty which adds to his figure. It’s amusing to know that these dead celebrities have earned a figure of us$232million in the last year.
