This is worth the wait. Dixie Chicks much anticipated fourth album was released on May 23 after a gap of four long years. ‘Taking The Long Way’ consist of 14 songs co-written by Dixie Chick members Marty Maguire, Emily Robison and Natalie Maines. Produced by Rick Rubin producer of Johnny Cash’s last few albums, Neil Diamond, Run DMC and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Some of the songs are ‘Lubbock Or Leave It’ ‘Everybody Knows’ and ‘Not Ready To Make Nice’. But what is doing really well is ‘Not Ready To Make Nice’ an autobiographical number about Maine’s criticism of President Bush in 2002. Maines added,
This album was total therapy. I’m way more at peace now. Writing these songs and saying everything we had to say makes it possible to move on.
Country radio should feel really embarrassed. After only 1 week of running the song already managed to climb No. 36 on Billboard’s country singles. I think it should apologise to the Chicks now.
