American rock singer Chrissie Hynde teamed up with acoustic guitarist Jerry Lee Lewis for an altogether different performance at her hometown Akron, in Ohio. Mostly she performs to entertain the masses but this time she sang to help a local theatre and in the celebration of her forthcoming meat free restaurant that will soon be opened for public.

The vegetarian restaurant known as VegiTerranean will cater Mediterranean and vegetarian cuisine once it becomes functional in October. Hynde, 56, the lead singer of The Pretenders band was there to take part in weeklong celebrations of the eatery, VegiTerranean.

The celebrations began on Friday, September 14 with music and continued till Saturday afternoon when restaurant’s ribbon-cutting ceremony took place. Finally the event concluded Saturday night with the musical performance of Chrissie Hynde.

Hynde gave out bean salsa and other hors d’oeuvres from a silver platter at the ribbon-cutting ceremony and announced to the people present in the ceremony:

Save animals and stop all of the violence.

All the proceeds from Hynde’s concert will be forwarded to the local theatre, the Akron Civic Theatre. Hynde a resident of England has partnered with Dan Duplain to operate the eatery. Dan Duplain is the owner of Fedeli restaurant in downtown Canton.
