There are tragic comebacks and there are Britney comebacks. Her performance at the MTV Video Music Awards at Las Vegas was supposed to signal her comeback but it was never planned to be like this. The American female pop music artist, who has over 76 million copies sold worldwide, staged a miserable display with her new comeback song Gimme More and was reported to have shed a lot of tears later on in the backstage.
This was supposed to be a huge night for Britney after years of missing the spotlight due to a plethora of reasons. Most of her fans and music lovers were anticipating a decent, if not good, performance from Britney Spears at the MTV awards but they had to go home highly disappointed. Britney couldn’t didn’t find her vintage rhythm at all and the exhibition of her new track was poor.
At times, she appeared to be confused onstage and her disorientation was all too evident. Although her old spirit showed some signs of recovery, she looked somewhat disorganized and seemed to be in need of some time still before she could perform live on stage.
Britney was later spotted “crying badly [backstage].”
One source says,
She was really nervous and knows she screwed up.
Britney Spears has been in the news for quite a while now but most of the headlines that have been about her have been about her personal life and struggles that she has been confronting since 2006 when her marriage with Kevin Federline broke down. Earlier this year, she was in and out of drug rehabilitations and even shaved her hair with clippers. But now the eighth best-selling female artist in American music history as ranked by the RIAA appears to have defeated her demons and is scheduled to release her new yet-to-be-named album in November. But if her display in Las Vegas on September 9 is anything to go by, then Britney does have to improve a lot to roll back those glorious years of the late 1990s and early 2000s.
