britney spears could the comeback album really make her comeback

Britney Spears is back with her new album and the music critics are in full swing to review her songs. Blackout might have released only this Tuesday but the anticipations and hype have been multiplying all throughout the year. Yet the doubt on whether the success of the album can justify the hype lingers on.

For one thing, the plethora of songs features on this suppose comeback album of Britney Spears has mostly been scripted by others with Britney playing only a nominal role in composing the lyrics of a couple of tracks. Reading into the lyrics of tracks such as Get Naked, Piece Of Me and Gimme More, Britney appears to have some sort of self-awareness but that is often solely based on her sexuality and sexual needs.

Indeed the lyrics of the tracks in Blackout are frequently discerned to be explicit but that’s not unwonted in Britney’s tracks. The American singer’s past success was constructed on lyrics that excited passion in the listener and it should hardly be a surprise that the fallen star, desperate to resurrect herself, should try to pull off the old trick once again.

But what’s disturbing is that Britney Spears is already a mother, although an estranged one, and that her private life is in shambles. Observed in this context, one can perceive that the lyrics of Britney’s songs in her comeback album are quite overt and sexually-inclined in their tone.

Yet it would be naive to dismiss Britney Spear’s comeback album. Britney Spears, being Britney Spears, has a delicious habit of gathering success and grabbing the headlines for one reason or the other. The immense publicity that the 25-year old has received since the start of 2007 and to the run-up to the release of Blackout should be enough to earn her a healthy amount of income very soon. There are many who are betting on Blackout to top the charts in the US at number 1 next week.
