It’s getting harder and harder to sideline Britney Spears out of the Showbiz news. Her comeback single Gimme More, a poor performance at the MTV Video Music awards and the naming of the new album have contrived to make her the centre of the attention in the last couple or so weeks and the string of news attached to her shows no sign of abating.
Britney Spears has now hit the headlines with an unscheduled meeting with her ex husband Kevin Federline and his attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan on Wednesday and according to a close source the idea was hatched by the 25-year old American pop singer ad songwriter herself.
The source said:
Britney asked for [the meeting]. She wants to put an end to this public debacle. However, Kevin [has] refused. He needs more money so he’s determined to win this.
Britney Spears married the 29-year old American back-up stage dancer, model, actor and rapper Kevin Federline in September 2004 but at the end of 2006, the marriage broke down. In November, Britney filed for a divorce, citing irreconcilable differences and Federline immediately counter-filed court papers seeking spousal support and sole custody of the couple’s two children. The divorce was finalized on July 30, 2007 but Kevin returned to court to seek primary custody of the couples’s two children citing Spears’ reported erratic behavior in public.
The duo met at Britney’s attorney Laura Wasser’s Century City offices on the day of their son Jayden’s first birthday and just five days before they are to face each other before a family court judge. But there was no love gained between Britney and her ex husband Kevin at the meeting as the sources have revealed.
According to court documents released on August 30 this year, Britney’s income is $737,868 a month and Kevin receives $20,000 a month in spouse support but has no “net income after business expenses.”
Although there has been consistent suggestion that Kevin Federline is going through all this procedure for financial self-interest, he and his sources have constantly denied such an idea.
