Blues legend B.B. King who had been scheduled to perform at the Grand Opera House on Thursday and Friday night, was hospitalized for undisclosed reasons to a Galveston, Texas, hospital said Paul McCarthy, a nurse administrator.

He was forced to cancel a concert last night, but there’s no word if this will affect upcoming concert dates.

The 81-year-old blues legend is reported in good condition and could be released soon. John Koloen, a hospital spokesman said,

It looks like flu-like symptoms. We’re just holding him for observation and rest. He’s in good condition, has a little fever. He’s resting comfortably, and at this point we expect him to be released tomorrow.

King, who sings, plays guitar and writes songs, has been a fixture on the U.S. music scene for 60 years and still tours. He has recorded more than 50 albums.

His biggest hits include ‘The Thrill Is Gone’ and ‘Every Day I Have the Blues,’ has amassed 14 Grammy Awards during his career, nine of them for best traditional blues album. The most recent was for a 2005 collection of duets he recorded in honor of his 80th birthday.
