Central African Republic has placed a ban on songs which encourage men to dump their wives. Radio and television stations have been ordered to stop broadcasting songs.
Communications Minister Fidele Ngoundgika stated that The Central African woman is a key part of the country’s development. Men are allowed to marry up to four wives in the former French colony. The right to vote was given to women only in 1986. Female genital mutilation is still practiced in many rural areas.
After all these human right violations taking place against women in Central Africa, why is the Republic placing a ban on music? The Republic should be working on more important issues like poverty, genital mutilation etc.
