Canadian pop singer Avril Lavigne is denying accusations that she ripped off others’ work, She called the accusations false and said she was considering legal action.
A lawsuit was filed by two writers, claiming her hit “Girlfriend” sounds like a number their pop band, The Rubinoos, recorded in the 1970s. She dismissed these as being baseless.

In a letter posted on Friday on her Web site - www.avrillavigne.com - Lavigne wrote:
I had never heard this song in my life and their claim is based on five words! All songs share similar lyrics and emotions. As humans we speak one language.
The icon also said that she was considering action against Chantal Kreviazuk after the songwriter claimed in “Performing Songwriter” magazine that Lavigne ripped off some of her works.
