Aussie rocker Billy Thorpe died just after midnight, from a massive heart attack, aged 60.

The rocker died at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney after suffering a massive heart attack.

Thorpe was taken from his Darling Point home in Sydney’s east by ambulance, suffering from chest pains and died in St. Vincent’s Hospital, where he died with his family at his side.

The enduring showman had his last gig, just three days ago, at San Remo’s Westernport Hotel, where he electrified his fans with his powerful voice.

The rock legend’s hits include such as ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’ which is really full of emotion and ‘Most People I Know (Think That I’m Crazy)’ which really rocks.

Thorpe was the first Australian rocker to achieve fame and sales abroad and credited with kick-starting the 1960s rock ‘n’ roll revolution in Australia.

Thorpe was hoping to finish a rock opera he had been recording with the Royal Moroccan Orchestra and was planning a charity concert to form a foundation to care for peers who had fallen on hard times.

Promoter Michael Chugg said the response to Thorpe’s death was overwhelming.

Chugg said,

He touched a lot of people around the world. It’s a devastating loss.

Thorpe was an amazing rocker and an accomplished guitarist. He’ll be always remembered for his electrifying voice.
