Arctic Monkeys’ second album seems to be the biggest seller of 2007, having sold 85, 000 copies of the new album on its first day in the shops.

Arctic Monkeys’ new album ‘Favourite Worst Nightmare’ outsold the rest of the UK’s top 20 albums on Monday.

Now it looks like that Arctic Monkey’s album is set to overlook the sales record achieved by rival band Kaiser Chiefs, who sold 151,000 copies of Yours Truly, Angry Mob during its first week of release in February.

But still it can’t surpass the first Arctic Monkeys album, which sold 360,000 copies in its first week in 2006.

According to Stephen Lynn of Virgin Retail, Favourite Worst Nightmare was selling ‘fantastically well’.
