Beyonce Knowles is not in the Best Original Song category nominations for the Oscar for ‘Listen’ despite being credited for contributing to the song. The reason is that there are too many co-writer co-writers, and the Oscar rules have it that only two people can be given the statutes. A third one is acceptable only if he or she is deemed to be an equal contributor.
The case with ‘Listen’ is different because the number of co-writer far exceeds two or three. Beyonce, therefore, gets a shutout. The three approved by the Oscar songwriting branch for the song ‘Listen’ are Amme Preven, Henry Krieger and Scott Cutler.
But that’s quite all right because whatever the rules for the Oscar say, the Golden Globes have no problem with Beyonce as one of the songwriters for the song. She has been counted in for the Golden Globe along with the other three writers.
