Throughout his young the East Coast hardcore rapper, 50 Cent endured substantial obstacles before becoming the most discussed figure in rap in early 2003, if not pop music in general.

50 Cent lived everything most rappers only write rhymes about but not all really experience: drugs, crimes, imprisonments, stabbings, and most disreputably of all, shootings — all of this before he even released his debut album. Of course, such experiences became 50’s symbolic stock-in-trade. As a result, his music crossed over to numerous key markets, appealing to both those who liked his roughneck posturing and rags-to-riches story as well as those who liked his knack for churning out naughty singalong club tracks

50 Cent has never been completely up front with fans about the deeper meaning behind his album titles. But he might just top Get Rich or Die Tryin’ and The Massacre with the name of his third major-label release: Before I Self destruct.

50 revealed the title to MTV News recently and justified it - cryptically, of course - by simply saying, “Because it could potentially happen.” The album will surely try to live up to those expectations and shun them aside who thinks otherwise. There’s no point to think otherwise.

In the meantime, the rapper is also adding ‘In Da Club’ of his acting career with several upcoming projects. The first of those, “Home of the Brave,” with Samuel L. Jackson and Jessica Biel, opens next month.
