After the grand success of MTV Video Music Awards, the music empire is all set for yet another innings. MTV is gearing for Los Premios, an event conceptualized for felicitating the best in Latin Music. The nominees of 2007 MTV Los Premios was announced on 12th September 2007 putting the sensational mexican star Belinda up ahead the rest with five nominations.
The Los Premios MTV Latin America 2007 brings together the rich flavour of Latin America in various stars and bands in one platform along with some sensational international acts which reflects the mindset of the youth. Belinda, the teen sensation and actress gets a green signal in 5 categories including Best Solo Artist, Video of the Year and Artist of the Year. With 4 nominees to their name just behind Belinda are Alejandro Sanz and Argentinian rock band Babasonicos. Meanwhile with score of 3 each are Paulina Rubio, Julieta Venegas and several more.
There are some international names as well who have made their way into this years Los Premios like Avril Lavigne, Gwen Stefani, Justin Timberlake, Amy Winehouse. This years MTV Los Premios had added three more catefories to their list ‘Fashionista Award,’ for best dressed celebrity; ‘Best Urban Artist Award’ for best R&B, rap, hip hop or reggaeton; and the ‘Influencia Award,’ honoring an influential artist with a long career.
With some power packed performances from Hilary Duff, Avril Lavigne, Cafe Tacuba and The Cure, the award night will take place at Mexico City’s Palacio de los Deportes on October 18.
